Politics are hindering Thai flood relief, analysts claim
Thailand’s battle against its worst floods in decades has spilled into the political arena, underscoring the deep divisions that linger more than a year after deadly civil unrest rocked the country.
Efforts to prepare the capital for looming floodwaters have been plagued by contradictory messages from Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s government and local authorities, both seeking to score political points, observers said.
Bangkok River Swells to Record as Flooding Reaches Thai Capital
Thai authorities warned people living on the banks of the Chao Phraya river to prepare to evacuate as water levels reached a record and floodwaters began spilling into the nation’s capital.
MWA assures water supply
MWA governor Charoen Passara in a TV telecast revealed that piped water quality is now getting better as the MWA has already plugged the leak at Khlong Prapa.
The bad/yellowish water was caused three days ago when Khlong Prapa was breached.
However, the chlorine smell is unavoidable due to extra chemical amont is used.
The MWA warning for residents to stock piped water is for those affected residents who may rely on electricity to pump water and they may not be able to get the piped water if the electricity is cut due to flood situation.

Death toll rises to 356
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation on Sunday reported that 356 people were killed in flood-related incidents while two missing.
Flooding still continues in 28 provinces in northern, northeastern, central and easten regions where some 2.4 million people are still suffering, according to the department reported on Sunday.
The country’s most severe floods in over 50 years have affected at least 9.4 million people in 62 provinces, or four-fifths of the country, since July 25. Hundreds of highways and roads have been inundated while 18 north-bound trian routes suspended.
